I was going through some files in my room and came across the folder from The Amazing Meeting 7, the first one I went to, and came across a scribbled note I wrote on the schedule notice which read as follows:

Dunning-Kruger = Pratchett-University.

And I instantly knew what it meant. The Dunning/Kruger effect is the idea from the field of social psychology that those who are more ignorant of a given subject are far more likely to think they will be better at a task then those who understand the subject at hand. Where Sir Terry comes in is in his Discworld books Universities absorb knowledge, you go in thinking you know everything and come out after several years realising you practically nothing at all.

I can remember that instantly, but I forgot to hand in a job application until after the last day they were accepting applications. Weird.
