I'd forgotten how funny this program was

I planned on having a tv show marathon after watching nearly half an hour of Comic Relief on the Beeb and realising what crap it was, I was undecided between Babylon 5 and Farscape but decided on Red Dwarf because I picked up a bunch of videos for a quid each today at a second hand store.

Up until the end it was hilarious stuff. Original, clever, witty, and laugh a minute stuff, sadly when they got a bigger budget and shiny new production values the scripts went down hill. Shame really.

Didn't bother with comic relief this year apart from dropping a few quid in the collection bucket they had in the uni library (alas none of the librarians in silly costumes), but everybody seems to be saying that it was shit.

I used to absolutely love Red Dwarf, even if, like you say, the last couple of seasons were a let down. I think the writers and producers just didn't know when to quit (the fact that they completely changed the format in the last season seems to suggest that they were running out of material).
