Recent films
Feb. 17th, 2008 02:24 pmOkay, I heven't updated for a bit and for a change, I'm posting without beer and during the day.
I'm a regular cinema goer, and this weekend I saw There Will Be Blood as well as Cloverfield/
First off, There Will Be Blood is an absolutely amazing film, brilliantly acted by Daniel Day Lewis as Daniel Plainview, a silver prospector turned oilman and Paul Dano, whom I've never seen before but will now keep and eye out for, as Eli Sunday, a preacher and faith healer who sets up his own church. The rivalry and conflict between these two is amazing to watch. Will definitely be buying it on DVD.
As for Cloverfield, it truly is Godzilla meets Blair Witch Project with more explosions and deaths. It's very well done, due to the double act of JJ Abrams and Drew Goddard, and will last longer in popular culture than the movie Godzilla, but it is, in essence, a summer blockbuster. Nothing more.
