About six months ago I first became aware of the the band Cloud Cult. I'm not sure where I heard of them, but I definitely think it was through the internets.

Wikipedia's genre listing shows them as art rock, experimental, indie pop, and baroque pop. I was listening to them last night, and they really spoke to me. It may have been the late hour or the alcohol, but it had the feeling of great significance and even beauty. I'm not normally an emotional person, and when I listened again today it was back to just being good music.

My question to you, my flisters is do you have moments that effects you like that, be it music or books, or even movies? If so, please let me know.

Cheers.

I can get pretty emotional about stuff, I'm a sucker for it. But without fail what gets me the most, every single time is the end of Apollo 13 when the whole world is watching reentry, all the people at NASA headquarters, the families, Lovell's son at school, everyone waiting through the three minutes of radio silence that turns into four, and you can see the realization on their faces that they died. That they got the crew so close to home and they burned up - and then the Odyssey breaks through and Lovell's says, "Houston, this is Odyssey."

That one hits me in the gut - chills, tears - every time and I think part of it is the sheer miracle that they pulled off and how they really did get home safely. Because it wasn't just a miracle, you know, it was the culmination of humanity at it's best.

It's part of the reason for my default icon, too.
