I've been paying attention to what appears to be insanity in america in regards to health insurance reform. I've watched some clips from the various cable news networks, I've read the online newspapers as well as the right and left leaning blogs.
It appears to me that many on the right are almost insane. It seems very similar to those opponents of evolution, deliberate ignorance. I've lived in London my entire life and had need of the NHS thankfully very few times.
My family however, has had deep experience with them. I'm not going to go into details, but I lost my mother when I was young and the NHS did everything they could to save her over the two years since the problem began, they were unfortunately unsuccessful but while it was going on, neither my Dad or my Mum had to suffer the further worries of cost, or whether a operation or treatment could be afforded.
My Dad developed glaucoma last year, he's been taking 3 different eyedrops 4 times a day for nearly a year, and has had two eye operations. Without the NHS he would be broke and blind.
